It’s just what I need! I was so impressed with the game interface and the choice of ships available for selection. Before I could even think, I had selected the Science ship because of its interesting big head. However, as the game went on, I had extreme difficulty in dealing with my ship in battles! My ship would almost always get destroyed because of its inability to compete with others’ firepower, and I absolutely had no idea what was going on sometimes. Continuing like this didn’t get me anywhere, so I needed some serious help, otherwise I decided that I would just give up on the game.

I found out from a gamer friend of mine that Killerguides publishes game walkthroughs that are very helpful. My initial thoughts was that I was scared that the money that I’d paid would go to waste. I got one of the Star Trek Online Science Guide and it turned out to be extremely helpful. The guide gave me all the tips I need to turn my ship from a useless flying junk into the ultimate fighter ship. I had discovered all these hidden weapons that the Science ship had and used them to great effect in the battles. I learned new skills such as buffing and debuffing the enemies firepower and most important of all, learning to spot the enemy’s weakness so that my allies and I could attack them more effectively. A truly useful guide for both new and experienced Science ship players.

Science ships in Star Trek Online are like the buffers or healers in other games. Their goal is to provide support to their allies when in combat. Whereas the other two ships have a lot of firepower, the Science ships do not. Instead, they rely on enemy weaknesses to deal damage.

When bundled with other ships, the <a href="http://ialeeso.notlong.com" rel="nofollow'>Science ships are invaluable. They are able to detect weaknesses in ships, to allow their allies to deal more damage. Along with this, they have the ability to help repair other allied ships.

Another great benefit of the Science ships is their ability to detect cloaked enemies. This allows them to have great power in every battle. Along with this they are able to buff their allies and debuff their enemies, causing them to have a very big impact on battles and having an effect on which side wins the battle(s).

Although the Science ships are buffers, they have no problem completing most missions alone. This follows along the same guidelines as most other games as well (where buffers are able to hold their own in battles). So if you decide to use a Science ship, keep in mind that you are not always going to be forced to find other players to group with, although both Cruisers and Escorts would probably love to have you around.

Primary Role : Their primary role is fleet support, aiding their allies, and battle controlling (through both buffing allies and debuffing enemies).

Special Benefits : They have advanced shields, innate subsystem targeting, innate cloak detection, and bonuses to their auxilary power.

Some considerations to take before entering a space combat with your ship in Star Trek Online:

The battle will be uncommonly focused on balancing your shield and positioning of your ship. In Star Trek Online, you will have to manage up to 4 shields that basically surrounds you in the front, left, right and back. By transfering power you can either focus on 1 of the 4 shields or balance the power to have all the shields equally defence.

Positioning is key in space ship combat, not only will it effect your defence, but your offence too. Imagine having two phasers on the side of the ship. To fire both phaser simultaneously, the ship needs to fire from the side and your shields would be transfer to the side facing the enemy as well, to reduce damages. Select weapon that gives you more angle in your attacks, while controling your velocity with the throttle.

Welcome to Star Trek Online Science. Take a close look at the Science class ships and how these magnificent class can work for you and other players of Star Trek Online.

Cryptic Studios, the game developer behind the hit MMORPG Champion’s Online, will be releasing Star Trek Online early 2010. Being the gamer I am, I just had to dedicate a webpage to stay ahead of the other fan sites even before the release of the game. When talking about Star Trek Online Science vessels, the first thing that comes to mind, is the sorcerer and cleric characters in conventional MMORPG, because Science class ship’s main purpose is to support allies with buffing and debuffing skills. A typical scenario would be the Science ship scrambling an enemy’s sensor to cause confusion, while an allied ship deals damage to the confused enemy. Another situation would be a Science ship boosting friendly shields or enable attacks to bounce off deflector dishes.

The developer has boldly stated the game’s space combat as unlike anything else out there and I am starting to believe them. The depth of the combat is rather remarkable compare to the typical click attack and click shortcut for a skill.

Of course, the Science class ship has more up its sleeve, but Cryptic Studios is doing a pretty good job of keeping suprises until the open-beta. Be sure to drop by regularly to see more updates on the game.
